What we put in to our career or business is what we will get out of it, right? I know you want to do well otherwise you wouldn’t be seeking out knowledge to help you succeed. You are proving your commitment to success, and that is great to see. So let’s take it one step further. I am going to give you some keys to success on how to have a great work ethic. These fundamental concepts will provide a solid foundation of success for you if you let them.

Have a positive attitude. Leave your problems at the door because you can pick them up on your way out. Don’t complain to co-workers or business partners about how your car broke down, and your spouse is being unfair, or whatever might be taking away from being productive on a daily basis. Do you know anyone that complains all of the time? How does that feel? We all have standards in life, and in your business having a positive attitude should be a standard. It will improve your efficiency and create more personal fulfillment in what you do.

Feel Confident. I want you all to feel confident in your future. You can tell a confident person when they walk into a room, or by the tone in their voice. It is so important in business to learn to transfer your confidence to your customers, or investors, or loan agent, etc. On days that you feel you are doing nothing right and the bills are piling up, take a minute to remember why you started your business in the first place. You genuinely felt you could help people, right? You had a product, service, and/or idea that could really make someone else’s life easier, more productive, or more financially sound. A company is only as good as its output. It is a rule of thumb that the companies that are able to have a high productivity rate are those that enjoy more freedom and flexibility in production and income. Adversely, companies having a low rate of production tend to have more difficulty keeping the company afloat.

The question then lies: how can a company increase its productivity without incurring more unnecessary expenses or burden? Most would probably answer this query by focusing on company functions, processes, or methodologies. However, it bears stressing that the solution does not lie exclusively on these at all. In fact, the solution may be found in the workers themselves.

The common factor found amongst all companies having high rates of production is that their workers are performing their duties with such a degree of efficiency that the companies do not usually spend a lot on their research and development staff in order to attain the said result. And the driving force behind this degree of efficiency lies in the manner these companies treats their workers. As the saying goes, “a happy worker is an efficient worker”.

Now, how does this saying find application? The saying does not only say that the workers must be kept happy. It says that the morale of these workers should be kept at a high level. This is so because morale comprises the main attitude and outlook of a worker regarding himself or herself, the job performed, and the company itself.
