Split test is the name of the game. Perhaps that’s an exaggeration. It’s almost like a game. The way it works is you have two ads that look the same except for a slight difference in one of the ads. Rotate the ads evenly and see which one gets the best response. The ad with the worst response gets dropped. The idea now is to duplicate the successful ad and make another slight improvement on just one ad. It can be one word or one line. Rotate ads again and look for the one that gets the best response. Repeat this process continually always dropping the ad that is unfavorable. This is called split testing. It’s a continual process that should be resolved. There’s always room for an improvement . Such is life We gradually make improvements. When we stop making improvements we begin the end. When nothing can be improved upon, we undoubtedly have the beginning of the end. Lets look at what can be split tested.
Squeeze pages should be split tested. For those of you who don’t know what a squeeze page is, it’s a special page used to collect names and addresses. You’ll want to have a list of names and addresses. This is how you collect them. The standard way is to have a page that is appealing with a name and address submission form. Some pages are more appealing then others. This is why you would want to split test your squeeze page. I discuss the details of appealing solicitation in my other writings. For now, merely realize that split testing is good for squeeze pages.
Test your upsell. The upsell is when you ad other things for the prospect to purchase on the “thank you page.” Some times you may upsell on other pages. An example would be when you purchase a hamburger at a fast food place. They will give you the upsell by asking you “would you like cheese on that burger?” An example of an upsell here would be to ask 100 people “would you like cheese on the burger. Then ask another 100 people would you like pickles on that burger. The split test would be which “ad on”(cheese or pickle) sold the most on a burger. Was it pickles or was it cheese that sold the most as an ad on.? You can split test almost anything and everything. It scientifically determines what works best.
